My name is Marcus Rivera, and I've been calling Las Vegas home for all 29 years of my life. I was born at Sunrise Hospital, grew up in Summerlin when it was still mostly dirt lots and dreams, and graduated from Palo Verde High School back in 2013.
Most people think Vegas is just the Strip - this glittering playground where tourists come to lose money and make questionable decisions. I started this blog because I was tired of seeing my city reduced to casino stereotypes and tourist trap articles. Vegas locals have stories worth telling - about the underground music scene that thrives in converted warehouses, the family-owned restaurants that have been feeding neighborhoods for decades, and the weird, wonderful reality of growing up in America's most misunderstood city.
